Inspiration for the weekend
After a busy week, would you like to start the weekend relaxed and inspired? You want to leave the impressions of the week behind you and start the weekend calm? Discover our weekly drop-in meditation classes in the middle of the old town of Brig.

The classes start with a relaxing meditation followed by an inspiring explanation on a Buddhist theme. The talks and meditations are open to all and aim to both improve our wellbeing and happiness in daily life and provide an introduction to an authentic spiritual path. Whether you are Buddhist or non-Buddhist, young or old – if you are interested, just come along. The class is taught in German.

Meditation can help you train your mind to become more positive and develop healthy habits to enjoy life more.

Happiness is something we all want to have, and if we understand how to focus our minds in meditation in ways that bring happiness and positive thoughts, we will discover that we can bring these good habits of mind into our daily lives. This series of meditations will help you to positively influence your ways of thinking and looking at things so that your life becomes more enjoyable and happier and you can be an inspiring influence on those around you.

Meditation – A Tool for Transformation

Have you always wanted to learn to meditate but didn’t know how to start? Or, you’ve started and haven’t managed to maintain a regular meditation practice.

These lunch time meditations offer a practical introduction to meditation. Learn about the diversity of meditation and how it can positively enrich your life. Through meditation, you will learn to quiet your mind, reduce stress, and gain an experience of inner peace and well-being.

what to expect

Guided Meditation

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation to help let go of distractions and settle the mind into an experience of inner peace.

Buddhist Teaching

The teacher will then give practical advice, based on the topic of the class, explaining how we can integrate Buddha's timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.

Discussion

The class will conclude with a second guided meditation to help us take the teaching to heart. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

Who are these classes for?

Our classes are for everyone who is interested in learning how to meditate, regardless of background or belief. They are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice. Everyone is invited to use whichever aspects of the teachings they find helpful.

How should I dress?

No special clothing is required but you might prefer to wear comfortable clothing.

Will I be asked to speak in front of a group?

There is often a chance to ask the teacher any questions that may have come up but you won’t be asked to speak in front of a group. 

Is there any physical exercise involved?

There is no physical exercise involved. We focus on internal development through contemplation and meditation.

Do I need to be Buddhist to attend?

No. We present Buddha’s teachings in a way that is accessible to everyone and welcome people from all faiths and backgrounds.

Do I need to book in advance?

There is no need to book in advance, just turn up. 

Can I join the class when the series has begun?

Yes. Although taught as a series, each class is self-contained so people are welcome to come along when it suits their schedule.
